Pregnancy: 28 Weeks Pregnant-Bump Update
We are officially in the THIRD TRIMESTER!
28 Weeks
I have no clue where the time has gone. I am officially 28 weeks pregnant and we are only a couple of months away from meeting our surprise baby. To be honest, I’m still not mentally prepared to welcome a new member of the Brown household.
I better get ready!
Prior to my 28 weeks checkup, there were a couple of tests that I to get done. For starters, the dreaded glucose tolerance test. Since I am considered “Advanced Maternal Age” I had to complete not one, but two of these tests! In addition to the glucose tolerance test, I had to get more blood work done as well.
Do you remember my post on the Anatomy Scan? Well, the time had finally come to where I had to do an additional ultrasound to check the growth of Baby Brown. I will actually have to have one more of these ultrasounds done before Baby Brown arrives.
Yep. Advanced Maternal Age.
Every time I go and I have to have an ultrasound, I ALWAYS remind the tech that we/I don’t want to know the gender. I get so nervous that they will slip up and accidentally tell me! Luckily, for us, we still have no clue of the gender and the anticipation keeps growing.
At this ultrasound appointment, Baby Brown was still snoozing. The baby was facing my back and was heads up. Basically baby was the “breach position” We tried EVERYTHING to get Baby Brown to move but the baby was NOT having it!
It was the funniest thing!
The ultrasound tech was only able to capture TWO pictures and one was of a single foot!
The baby had his/her feet on top of the head and would not move. I can tell you now, that this little one is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
So what did we learn during this visit?
#1 Baby Brown is growing right on track
Whew! (Insert sigh of relief) Baby Brown is also coming in at a whopping 2lbs 9oz and is measuring in the 51 percentile for growth. Which I was told was really good percentile for 28 weeks. Also, baby Browns heart rate was 153 beats per minute. As far as for mommy, well…
I have gained a total of 15 pounds and everything is looking good. My OBGYN did recommend that I purchase these maternity compressions tights to help with my ankles swelling. It has been a thing lately, especially since I have to drive so far to and from work every day. They seem to be working pretty well. If you are wondering why I have to wear these, it is because I could potentially have a blood clot and that would not be good.
Now my appointments will be every two weeks and we will be monitoring how everything is going. there are a few things I still have to do. for example, start thinking about packing my hospital bag and getting things baby ready at home. This is challenging because my job has me all over Florida and finding the time is…
TOUGH.
Good news is that I can plan around it I just have to be more intentional about what I do and how I spend my time. Check out my bump pictures and the ONLY two pictures we were able to get from the stubborn nugget!
