Business: You Should Focus On A Niche In 2020
I thought I would never say it but it is true.
Now that we are officially in 2020, it is time to consider picking your niche and sticking to it. In 2019, this was really not my focus because, like most of us superwomen out here, I feel that I can do it all.
The problem I have is that I have multiple things and passions that I love to share. Throughout 2019, I have learned that I lacked the discipline to do “all the things”. Yes, I love them all and I want to share them, but I am not providing any value to my community by being all over the place.
For 2020, my word is FOCUS
I want to focus on the one thing that I truly feel that will help others. Yes, I will still create content that others enjoy but I have to fall back on the things that are draining my energy.
How to select your niche for 2020
- Pick ONE thing that you are passionate about. This one will be challenging because most people have more than one thing they love to do/share.
- Make a plan. How are you going to focus on and share information about your niche?
- Ask yourself the tough questions. Does your niche solve a problem? Will it help others? Does it have the ability to help you earn extra income?
Most people find it extremely challenging to “niche down” and get very specific about what they want to do. Trust me, I struggle with this every day. What I have found is to reflect on the things that my community asks me about. Now you don’t have to do just want your community wants, but this will give you a head start in the right direction if you are struggling to come up with your niche.
I know my word for 2020 is FOCUS, but I need to be HYPER-FOCUSED on creating the content that my community wants from me so that by the end of 2020 I can leave my corporate job and work solely for myself. #2020goal
Funny story, my mom has always told me, “Why would I go and work two pieces of a job versus one good job?” In other words, having multiple jobs doesn’t always make sense. This is especially true in the blogging/influencer world. So, start one with one niche and once you have your systems and processes in order, then you can move on to your next project.
Some things may have to be put on hold until you get everything figured out, and that is ok. For me, this will be the most challenging part but it is a part of the process that is non-negotiable in order to make this work.
Strive to be GREAT at your ONE thing, then optimize your business by working on your next BEST thing. I know you can do it! Let’s help each other in 2020 reach our goals.
