Is Your Mindset Keeping You Stuck? Recognize and Address The Issues

Business

There are many facets to a successful business. Having the right idea, the tools and skills to accomplish the idea, and knowing your audience is just the first step. Having the right attitude about your business, its role, and your abilities is the second. It’s all about the proper mindset. If you’re struggling to maintain a productive mindset around your business, you could be sabotaging your endeavor before you even start. Three mindsets, in particular, can harm your ability to move forward. Recognize these mindsets about entrepreneurship that are keeping you stuck so that you can work on them. This will allow you to address and move past the issues and ultimately be successful in your business.

Believing That You Have to Do it All Could be Keeping You Stuck

Often when we start a new business, we feel the need to have a hand in every aspect of our work. Business owners often take on more than they are prepared to and more than they truly need to. The truth of the matter is that the most successful entrepreneurs will spend time working on what is making them money. They’ve learned to delegate tasks that can be automated. As an entrepreneur, believing that you have to have a hand in everything related to your business could be keeping you stuck.

When you’re first starting in your new business venture, much of what you’re doing is experimental. You are likely running all aspects of your business from social media marketing, content creation to in-person networking if that’s part of your business. Later, as your business grows, there will come a time when delegating certain tasks is imperative to your growth and success. Delegating tasks and responsibilities could be the missing link in your business.

It’s important to realize early on, that if a task is important to your business but it’s not your forte or you just don’t enjoy that part of the business, that it is ok to pass that task on to someone else. It may seem counterproductive, especially when you’re first starting out and investing money that you don’t really have, but the long-term gain is immeasurable. By bringing others in to help – and you can do this inexpensively as there are affordable virtual assistants and freelancers out there – you’re freeing up your own time to perform the parts of your business you both enjoy and those that help you grow and bring in money.

Waiting Until  the Conditions are Right

There’s not much worse than analysis paralysis. This phrase refers to the overthinkers who spend their time considering all aspects to the point that it stalls their progress. By definition, analysis paralysis describes the process by which overanalyzing a situation causes momentum to stall and decision-making to halt.

Many would-be entrepreneurs get stuck in the trap of ‘getting ready to get ready.’ In fact, this is a common trait. People love to tell you what they’re ‘gonna do’ but lack the discipline and motivation to put their ideas and dreams into motion. You may be spending too much time thinking about what could go wrong. Maybe you have an idea that you think is great but you’re overthinking because there are other people out there already doing what you want to do.

Whatever the reason, inaction is going to keep you in the same situation, the same place and with the same problems – there’s no growth there. The key is to understand and consider the possible challenges and know that they may be challenges, but also continue to move forward regardless. Deciding on a course of action and making a plan for your success will help you get out of this mindset, but you have to do it. You can’t think your way into a six-figure business but you certainly can overthink your way out of one.

Your Business and Approach are Unique to You

Note: If there is someone out there already doing what you do, recognize that they’re not doing it your way. You are a unique business owner. You bring strengths, talents, and insights that only you are privy to. No one is doing it your way. Your experiences and background offer you a very different perspective than anyone else. Anything that you come to, will be approached from your own individual point of view. This makes it unique, so just do the thing, already.

Is Your Fear of Social Media Keeping You Stuck?

There are so many great ideas out there; businesses that are solving problems and creating products the world needs. The problem? No one knows about them. You could have the best product or service in the world, but if people don’t know it exists, you’re wasting your time. Having a handle on marketing and knowing the ins and outs of social media is key, in this day and age. Everything can be done online and if you don’t have an online presence, you may not reach the people who need to see what you have to offer.

Fear of social media could be keeping you stuck.  If you’ve decided you don’t want to venture into the world of websites and blogs, it may be time to reconsider. This isn’t to say that you must learn the latest Tik Tok dances to be successful (though it’s definitely fun, you should at least try it one time).  What is important is that your core audience is able to find you online. People are interacting on Facebook and Twitter. They’re searching YouTube and Google. You can expand your reach exponentially by being present on these platforms.

Breaking out of the mindsets that don’t serve you or your business is the key to growth. Having the confidence to move forward in your business and break out of your comfort zone is the first step to success. If these mindsets are keeping you stuck, it may be time to do some inner and outer work to move forward. Take one step at a time, address the issues, expand your reach, delegate when you must, and watch your business soar.
