Natural Hair: How To Do Boxer Braids
I am so excited to announce that I have finally learned how to do boxer braids! Now, some of you may want to come for me in the comments about what I call this style of braids. To be honest, some of you may know them as…
Cornrows
Dutch Braids
French Braids
Call them what you want. For purposes of this post, I will be calling this style of braids, boxer braids. I have always been a little challenged when it came to braiding my hair to my scalp. Not to mention but having a lot of hair, you need to pack a ton of patience.
It took me a couple of tries before I was comfortable with braiding my hair this way. All the credit goes to my sister De’Ana for sitting me down and braiding my hair. She took me through the process and explained to me how to do it for myself. But most importantly, she taught me how to do it for myself. She took me to step by step through the braiding process.
First, she braided one side, then she allowed me to practice on the other side. No, it did not turn out well, so she decided to finish the other side (for picture purposes) But ever since that day, I kept at it. Practicing braiding my own hair until one day I can become a professional braider! (not really) But you know that feeling when you have semi mastered a skill. That was me.
I know most of you have probably seen this style everywhere! It is hands down one of my favorite braided hairstyles to wear. Boxer braids can be the perfect summer hairstyle and here are a few reasons why:
1. Helps protect my hair
2. It’s HOT
3. A Simple and Cute hairstyle
I am falling in love with braids and braid styles all over again. Having long hair and a lot of it can have its challenges. But, it is good to be able to wear braided styles that are not only in style but save me from having to do my hair every day!
