You Can Conquer Fear By Having This One Thing
Fear
Fear can be paralyzing. It can lead us down a path of uncertainty and doubt. Sometimes I feel like fear and I have a strong relationship. Especially when it comes to stepping out and doing the things that I have been called to do. You see, fear has a way of telling us that we are not good enough. It has a way of letting us get away with just being ok instead of great.
Fear also has a way to keep us from enjoying this beautiful life that we have been blessed with. A lot of times, I try to remind myself that fear is one of those things that show up when we are close to achieving our goals. You know the saying…
Success is on the other side of fear.
Even though we read it, we absorb it, we quote it, fear still finds a way to cripple us. It always seems to find a way to try and tell us that we are not good enough. Fear will have you second guessing your purpose, your passion, your dreams. The constant battle with fear can be draining. But over time I have noticed that there is one thing that can help you conquer fear…
COURAGE
Yes. Courage. It takes courage to stand up to your fears and not let them take over you or your dreams. Now, I am not saying that this will be easy. But having courage is the first step to having freedom from fear. You have to trust and believe that you can and will do the things that you want to do. Let me share a story…
I’m from a very small town in Mississippi. I knew when I was young that I was going to leave and move to another state. My dad gave me and my sisters the travel bug. My mom was born and raised in this small town and she loved it so that she never wanted to live anywhere else. See, I was terrified when I accepted my first “big girl” job. I had to pack up leave my hometown and move to North Carolina…by myself. I cried for days after my parents dropped me off and left me alone in my one bedroom apartment.
The thing is if I would have let fear take over I would have moved back home. It took some serious courage to do the very thing I always said I wanted to do. Better yet, if I would have let fear overrule my decisions then I wouldn’t be where I am today.
If nothing else, I hope that today’s post inspires you and encourages you to know that you have the COURAGE to fight the fears that are holding you back from being your best self.
Don’t’ let fear dictate your future.
What are some things you do to put fear in its place?
