DNA Test & Results

For as long as I can remember people were always intrigued by my ethnicity. I became so accustomed to being asked a series of questions for example:

What are you mixed with?

Is your mom white?

Is your dad black?

Are you Hispanic?

What is your background (ethnicity)?

Today’s post will be about my DNA Test & Results!

Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time I received one of the above questions, I would have a nice “rainy day fund”. I have seen the commercials on tv and I have heard from friends who invested I finding out there ancestry by completing an ancestry DNA test.

It really peeked my interest and so for Christmas 2017, I decided to purchase a 23& Me Ancestry Kit for my family. I also purchased one for my husband and his parents. The more I thought about it, I realized that we should all know our ancestry.

We not only need to know for ourselves but for our children. They need to know their history and understand their background. This will probably be the Most Important Test you will ever take in your life.

After completing my ancestry test, I immediately wanted to know more. I want to travel and see some of the places that may have never been on my list of to-do. The impact of this test was such an eye-opening experience.

I feel that now when asked, “What are you mixed with?” I can proudly, and confidently respond with the correct answer and not a mere assumption.

After spitting into the sample tube I was worried that I didn’t do it correctly. These thoughts started to form in my head after seeing hints of pink in the sample. (thanks to my lipstick) Luckily for me, all went well!
