Dear Mamma’s You Need To Stop Being So Hard On Yourself
Mamma’s Stop Being So Hard On Yourself
Let’s face it, we can be so hard on ourselves as mothers’. If you don’t believe this is true then please feel free to call me out on it. There is something that I noticed not only with myself but with some of my other fellow mamma’s. We are too hard on ourselves.
I feel like I am preaching to the choir, but it is so true. I love being a mother. It’s the one job I wouldn’t trade for the world. But sometimes I place so much responsibility on myself and sometimes I’m just being extra.
So extra, because I just want to prove a point and I end up hurting myself in the long run. See, we think that we have to carry all the burdens and that we have to not only be strong for our kids but everyone else around us. What we fail to realize is that in many cases we are not being realistic.
I have to remind myself constantly that I am doing a good job as a mother. See, some of us never receive those words of encouragement. Hell, most times we are never acknowledged or appreciated for the sacrifices that we make for our families and our children. We are “expected” to do so many things as a mother on top of working full-time and pursuing our passion projects. For me, the work on my passion projects doesn’t start until the kids are asleep. Yep.
It can be challenging.
We are mothers for a reason. there are some things that men can’t handle, there are things that other friends and family with no children will never understand. I have learned this the hard way but I have also accepted that I am DAMN good at being a mother.
In 2019, I will not be so hard on myself to be that “perfect” mom. I will cut myself some slack and know that what I am doing is the best for me and my family. When we are too hard on ourselves, we put ourselves into a position that will eventually lead to unhappiness. Know when to check in and know when to let go. Learn to let some of the little things slide and focus on the big moments that make you proud to be a mom.
You are one of a kind and you can do major things! so, from one mother to another…
Stop being so hard on yourself!
Are you being too hard on your self when it comes to being a mother? What are some things that help you to celebrate the little things?
