How To Use Perm Rods To Style Straight Hair The Easy Way
Perm Rods On Straight Hair
Yep, I said it, perm rod set on straight hair. Don’t worry because you can also try this with blown-out hair as well.
Now, before we get into all of the pictures and details, I want to share a little background information. Since my hair was straight (flat-ironed) for about a week, I decided I wanted some quick curls. However, I didn’t want to use the curling iron, so instead, and I wanted to give this method a try.
The number of rods used:
Five (5) Green and nineteen (19) Orange
Twenty-four (24) total perm rods
Perm Rod Sizes: Green 1-inch and Orange 3/4 inch
Yall, I did not realize at first that I was going to be a little rusty creating this style. It took me way longer to get all of my hair on these rods. Looking at it, this may seem difficult, but honestly, the most challenging part of the process was my hair being straight. In addition, the ends of my hair would not wrap around the perm rods and stay put. Luckily, EcoStyler Gel came to my rescue. I was able to get the ends of my hair to stay wrap on the rods.
So, after I installed all of the rods, I sat under a hooded dryer for about 20 minutes. The reason I decided to do this is that I wanted to make sure that my hair was completely dry.
Also, for those of you that have been following me on my hair journey, you know that I am a huge fan and supporter of these hairstyles. Furthermore, these styles last at least a couple of days and the best part it is a style that it is low in manipulation. Most of all, this is important if you are on your natural hair journey and are in the process of growing your hair out.
Quick Tip: Whenever you apply heat to your hair be sure to follow up on your wash day with deep conditioning. My post, Easy Deep Conditioning Routine For Natural Hair – Full Tutorial will show you what the process is like for me.
