Pregnancy: Oh Baby Gender Neutral Baby Shower
I can’t believe in just a couple of weeks we will be adding a new member to our family. When I first found out about this baby I did not want to have a baby shower.
There were a few reasons for this. The first one was because I didn’t want to inconvenience anyone. My family lives in Mississippi, Texas, and Georgia and everyone would have to travel to Florida just to make this baby shower a reality.
I then started to think about how unfair it would be if I DIDN’T celebrate this baby as I did for the other two. So I got my act together and started to plan my baby shower with the help of my sister and fellow bloggers in the area.
Oh, Baby!
Since we had already decided not to find out the gender of the baby I knew that I would want a gender-neutral baby shower. But I also wanted to include a lot of greenery and neutral colors. With that being said, I headed over to my Pinterest account and created a board specifically for the baby shower. There it was…the Oh Baby theme.
We Made It Work.
Most of the shower I feel was DIY but it turned out to be a good thing. There is nothing wrong with saving a little money. I was feeling guilty for not going back to Mississippi/Louisiana for a shower to keep it convenient for everyone. The reality was that I would not be able to travel around the time I would be available to actually do a shower.
Let’s get into a few details about the Oh Baby Shower Theme!
Baby Shower Favors
Big thank you to Corkcicle for gifting me the for my guest at Baby Brown’s Shower. Everyone loved them and I am obsessed with mine. These tumblers come in two different colors, modern black and modern rose. These tumblers keep liquids cold for 9+hours or hot for up to 3 hours.
Watch Me Grow Succulents
After my baby shower venue fell through at the last minute I had to find my succulents ASAP. Luckily there was a place in Apopka, Florida call Florida Cactus. I drove out there early one morning and found exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to give these succulents to my guest because I loved the “watch me grow” idea.
We are so incredibly blessed to have so many people come from so far away to celebrate Baby Brown. We had people come from Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, Tampa, Orlando, and other surrounding areas.
Cake & Cupcakes
I’m so thankful to live in a neighborhood full of people with skills and businesses. When I thought bout what I wanted my cake to look like I immediately thought of the lady who lived in my neighborhood that did a cake for M’s birthday a few years back. So, I reached out to her again for the Oh Baby Shower Theme and she loved it. Of course, the cake and cupcakes were amazing! Thank you to Yummy Yummies for my delicious cake and cupcakes.
Other Sweet Treats
My sister, Jasmine was adamant about getting some sweet treats from one of her favorites bakers in Atlanta, Georgia. Koyas Kre8tions did a great job on the Rice Krispie treats, white chocolate covered pretzels and strawberry cake pops.
Fun & Games
My sister, De’Ana found some really great baby shower games for everyone to play. It was great because she went to Pinterest and Etsy and was able to purchase and download. She was able to send me the link and I saved the files to a thumb drive. Afterward, I took the thumb drive into Office depot and made copies of all the printables.
Oh Baby Theme Decoration
As I mentioned, I wanted to keep things on the neutral side when it came to the colors of the baby shower. So there were a lot of greens, browns, ivory, white and gold colors throughout the decorations. Since there was a last-minute change to the location we had to get creative and do a lot of DIY projects. To be honest, I was so happy with how everything turned out. Even more importantly I glad that everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Hosting a baby shower can be challenging and frustrating. It doesn’t matter if you are hosting your own or you have an event coordinator or your loved ones are doing it for you. Just remember that you are there to celebrate a new life. Enjoy every moment no matter how hectic things may get and appreciate the ones who have sacrificed time and money to be there for you.
The Celebration
Looking through all of the images, each one brings me so much joy. I am glad that my photographer was available to capture these priceless moments with friends and family. There were so many pictures but of course, I can’t post them all. But please be sure to scroll through and check out all the gems from that special day.
