The Jumpsuit…Petite women can wear them too!

Before we get into the details about this jumpsuit, I want to share a little story with you. I am sharing this story because I hope to inspire you, the way you inspire me.

When I was a little girl I dreamed of being a model and actress. I would tell myself daily about where my dreams would take me. New York, Hollywood, and Flordia just to name a few places. I tried the modeling route and that wasn’t considered a “real job” so after many failed attempts I had to let it go. I tried to take the acting route but after numerous failed attempts I had to also let that dream go.

So, when I look at these pictures, standing in the middle of these gorgeous palm trees, I am reminded of that “dream”

I may not be a supermodel but I have the opportunity to “model” for my followers, readers, and supporters. I literally cried my eyes out when I found out that the job my husband applied for was not going to be taking us to Dallas, TX but instead to Orlando, FL. (remember the little girl who said she would want to live in Florida) No, don’t have my beach house yet…but I will one day. By only standing 5 feet and 3 inches tall  (petite) all I could do is become a print model.

However, I am not trying to be a “signed” model.

I am just trying to feed the many passions and dreams that are embedded deep in my soul. No,  I would have never guessed that looking at myself on camera or in a picture would yield me so much joy. Simply because my photos and videos inspire other girls, teens, and women just like me. Just like the little girls who stare out their window into the backyard dreaming of a better place, a place where she can thrive and truly be herself.

This is me, a wife, a mother of 2, and a woman so passionate about helping others. I am also a woman who may have taken a different route in life, but the path I am on is right where I belong.

It seems as if all the jumpsuits are made for taller women. But, I think you will love this jumpsuit as much as I do.

Keeping It Classy

Alright, calling all of my hard working ladies looking for a classy dress! I think I have finally found “my kinda dress” if you have a chance to read my New York Fashion Week post, this dress may look familiar. Yes, I have it in white too! I know it can be challenging to find the perfect dress to wear to the office, but I think this one is a perfect option. Here are a few reasons I love this dress:

  1. Fitted Bodycon Style
  2. Classy Bell Sleeves
  3. Perfect Length

I am not 100% confident in my body (especially my arms) so I prefer dresses with sleeves. However, I also think the sleeves give the dress that “classy” feel. If I am being honest, I have never been a huge fan of dresses but now they are my jam and not to mention I live in Florida. Dresses are a necessity in the workforce here. I am in and out of my car all day long, so I need a dress that can move with me (if you know what I mean). Would you wear this dress to the office? Let’s chat in the comments!

Cape Jacket For Every Woman

Cape Jacket- Have you seen one? When I first laid eyes on this jacket, I just knew that I had to have one. I am a cold natured person, it is rare for me to go anywhere without a sweater or a jacket. Here in Florida, it is still over 80 degrees (on a good day). Most days, I wear a blazer or suit jacket to work. Having this jacket helps me to switch up my style. I also kept in mind the holiday parties that are around the corner. Being that I will most likely be wearing an off the shoulder dress, I needed something cute and fashionable. Honestly, I always have a hard time finding cardigans, or jackets to wear with dresses.

This little jacket is very versatile.

If you have seen others styling it, you would have noticed that you can wear it with or without sleeves. I haven’t styled it with a long sleeve top yet. However, it is something that I am going to try.

What do you think of this jacket? Let’s chat in the comment section below!

New York Fashion Week-Day 2

You Can't Visit New York Without This One Thing-Tiffany D. Brown

Bright lights will inspire you, let’s hear it for NEW YORK…

Alicia Keys and Jay-Z hit the nail on the head about New York. There is definitely an energy that this city has that will truly have you on cloud nine. This is my second time visiting New York and each time it keeps getting better. I couldn’t come all this way and not have one single New York T-shirt, so I had to snag this one.

For some reason this outfit makes me think of red candy apples from the State Fair. (don’t judge me) lol! If you are working in a office that allows for casual Friday’s hopefully you can find a little inspiration from todays post. In my opinion, it takes a certain type of t-shirt to pull this outfit off.

The blazer was perfect for the evening because the temperature was much cooler than it was during the day. That is what makes pairing these pieces together perfect for casual Friday’s or any other day during the week.

First Day of New York Fashion Week!

New York Fashion Week Day 1-Tiffany D. Brown

First thing, while in New York make sure you know how to hail a cab the “right way”! lol! I am so happy that while in New York I found exactly the direction that TDB will be headed in.  Staring by, focusing more of my posts on career, beauty, and lifestyle. With over 12 years of corporate sales experience and helping others land careers, I think I have a little something to offer. If you are new to the work force the number one thing to remember is to “KEEP IT SIMPLE”. Often times people tend to over dress when it is not necessary. I love keeping things simple and classy and it never takes away from my personal corporate style.

Now…

This outfit is hands down wear to work ready. I wasn’t talked about for wearing “white” after Labor Day probably because this lovely sheath dress is the definition of a BOSS!  Walking this streets of New York in this dress gave me a burst of confidence that had been buried for a very long time.  I am so thankful for my path leading me here.

What corporate style questions do you have? Are you a dress or a pants kinda gal? Let’s chat!

Find Your Confidence

I would have never thought I would wear a romper!

Honestly, I have always had confidence issues in wearing dresses, rompers, short skirts, and shorts. People may think I am totally crazy, but I never liked the way my legs looked. But now, I am on my journey of self-love and self-acceptance. It is hard finding confidence in the things that make us uncomfortable. Strufggling with self-confidence can really take a toll on you. So, I have decided to accept and love each and every one of my “flaws”. My flaws are who I am, even if you can’t see them.

On to this amazing romper! Lucky for me, I found this cute romper at Forever 21 just in time for my photoshoot with Angie Garcia in Fort Worth, TX. Now, I must admit, I should have had a tan wearing this color but I loved the pattern and the contrast of colors. Not mention, I already had the perfect accessories for this outfit.

Shop My Romper Accessories!

Shoes are from Payless Shoes. My favorite earrings and sunnies are also from Forever 21. The necklace is by Dominque with Classy Mama Designs.

What are some of your favorite summer must haves? Let me know in the comments section below!

Linen + Bell Sleeves

Another thrift store score with this linen blouse with bell sleeves! I can’t believe how good I’m getting at thrifting.

bell sleeves

I can’t take too much credit for my thrifting skills. Hanging out with my sister De’Ana, I have been trained by the best. She is so good at thrifting and finding great pieces. If you have been a reader of my blog, you know that I love the Goodwill Store in Covington, Louisiana. While I was still living in Louisiana, I had to make one last stop to see what I could find.

This store never disappoints, and I always find pieces that are true to my style. What makes it even better is that this linen top only cost me $3.50. Cha-Ching! All of the lace details is what sold me on this top. I grab a pair of my favorite distressed Forever 21 jeans and my wedges from Payless Shoe Source.

My favorite part about this outfit besides the linen top is the dark denim wedges. The colors really compliment each other.

If you are interested in how I styled my hair, be sure to check out my tutorial here.

The Everyday Casual Dress

Y’all are going to be seeing a lot more of these legs in the future! It’s time to throw out the leggings and become best friends with dresses, especially my go-to everyday casual dress.

If you were to catch in the streets running errands, you will 99.99% of the time see me in leggings. I have always been very self conscious about my legs, and knee caps. I always thought that they looked awkward so I kept them covered. The more I embrace who I am the more I fall in love with each of “my” flaws.

Now, I am sure most of you reading this post is like…I don’t see anything wrong with her legs. Honestly, you are right. Honestly, we all can be our toughest critic about everything. Hell, we all are that way about something. Looking at it now, it’s silly. I know many people would love to just have legs, or have the ability to walk. I am blessed, and I’m going to love these legs just the way God has made them….Just for ME.

I found this comfy dress on the sale rack at Rue 21 the other day for about $7! My favorite thing about it is that I love how the fabric is soft, comfortable, and cool! I paired it up with another pair of my Keds kicks that I found at TJ Maxx, and wha-la I got myself a cute and comfortable outfit perfect for every day.

Y’all, this sista is trying to stay on budget! lol!

Style: Corporate + Casual

As of this past Monday, I am officially no longer employed in Corporate America.

I can’t believe just a few weeks ago I had to ask Google how to write a resignation letter. Yep, I has been years since I had to resign or quit a job.  It’s kinda funny because I have always wanted to work for myself full time without the “support” of another job, but the truth is I LOVE being a pharmaceutical sales representative. I am really going to miss all of my customers and friends that I have made over the past 7 years in the New Orleans territory.

I know deep in my soul that God has something bigger and better planned for me. Being a seriously independent person, it makes me uncomfortable not having control. I really believe that he is opening a door for me to be a makeup artist, blogger, and content creator full time. Maybe he is allowing me to just have a break from all of my responsibilities so that I can refocus and really get ready for what is to come.

I have been behind in releasing my Podcast episodes, but I will be back to it very soon. I am still going to apply for other open positions in the Orlando market, but I know its going to take time. To be able to share my experiences as I go along is really exciting. My goal is to help inspire others as I go through my own interview process. Best believe there will be rejections, but I know my skill level and experience will land me right where I need to be.

So, although this goodbye to Corporate America is just temporary, I am looking forward to my journey.

Here’s to new beginnings!
