Fall Work Wear

Today I wanted to share another “day at the office” outfit. I wanted to give you a little outfit inspiration to help you transition into the Fall season. With this outfit, I stepped outside of my box and tried two new colors that I wouldn’t normally wear together.

With that being said, I would normally pair an outfit that I wear to work with a jacket or blazer. I have to be smart about jackets so soon in Florida because it is just not cool enough to wear one just yet. I’m secretly hoping that the weather will start to cool down soon.

With this outfit, I wanted to play around with a different color top to pair with my grey pants. Simple because with grey dress pants I am automatically drawn to either white or black. Yep, playing it safe.

Now, one thing that I would change about this outfit would be tying a large neck bow instead of a tiny knot. I do feel like it would have “dressed up” the outfit a bit more. If I were to wear a blazer or jacket with this, it would be much more “corporate” Lucky for me I think it works well without one!

To satisfy my “need” to have the color black included I added these shoes, sunnies, and bag. It really helps to pull it together and I think it’s still very professional.

What do you think of these two colors together?

Today I am going to be letting you in on the little secret of my favorite places to shop for professional outfits. I have been in corporate America for 12 years (and counting). My beginning story is a very interesting one, it all started with knowing I was destined to help others.

I remember going on what seemed like a thousand interviews only to be told they decided to go with another candidate. But I kept pushing, pushing until the answer of “no” was not an option and I wasn’t going to accept it. When I finally received my offer letter, (after 2 years of interviewing) it really changed my view of dressing in a professional wardrobe.

Affordable Professional Wardrobe

In the beginning, I would shop at stores like Express, The Limited, New York & Company to get cute, quality outfits. But shopping with these retailers would get very expensive. Don’t get me wrong these are still some of my all-time favorite brands and I still shop there from time to time.  Would you believe me if I told you I still have all of my suits from 12 years ago? Quality! This is what you want to look for and invest in. Find pieces that are high quality that will last you a long time. As time went on I began to step outside of the box and look for sales and other discounted apparel stores.

My Top 3 Favorite Places To Shop:

  1. Ross Dress For Less– This store is always at the top of my list for finding super cute and affordable dresses. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I wear a lot of dresses. Now, dresses have not always been my favorite professional piece. Primarily for my own self-conscious reasons. But, dresses are easy, functional, and perfect for any office or workplace.
  2. TJ Maxx/Marshalls– When you walk into TJ Maxx or Marshalls be sure to have an idea in mind of what you are looking for. This will help lessen your anxiety this is your first time shopping here. It takes a good eye and a little patience but you can find some amazing pieces and deals!
  3. Target– lately Target has started to showcase new brands that really cater to their shoppers. I love that they are always giving us different options that cater to our individual styles. I remember when they partnered with Issac Mizrahi in 2008. I purchased every suit from this line and I still wear them. You can find some really great deals, but be sure to check out the clearance rack too.
What are some of your favorite places to shop for your professional wardrobe? I know you have many options, but which stores do you always find yourself gravitating towards?

Keeping It Classy

Alright, calling all of my hard working ladies looking for a classy dress! I think I have finally found “my kinda dress” if you have a chance to read my New York Fashion Week post, this dress may look familiar. Yes, I have it in white too! I know it can be challenging to find the perfect dress to wear to the office, but I think this one is a perfect option. Here are a few reasons I love this dress:

  1. Fitted Bodycon Style
  2. Classy Bell Sleeves
  3. Perfect Length

I am not 100% confident in my body (especially my arms) so I prefer dresses with sleeves. However, I also think the sleeves give the dress that “classy” feel. If I am being honest, I have never been a huge fan of dresses but now they are my jam and not to mention I live in Florida. Dresses are a necessity in the workforce here. I am in and out of my car all day long, so I need a dress that can move with me (if you know what I mean). Would you wear this dress to the office? Let’s chat in the comments!

Cape Jacket For Every Woman

Cape Jacket- Have you seen one? When I first laid eyes on this jacket, I just knew that I had to have one. I am a cold natured person, it is rare for me to go anywhere without a sweater or a jacket. Here in Florida, it is still over 80 degrees (on a good day). Most days, I wear a blazer or suit jacket to work. Having this jacket helps me to switch up my style. I also kept in mind the holiday parties that are around the corner. Being that I will most likely be wearing an off the shoulder dress, I needed something cute and fashionable. Honestly, I always have a hard time finding cardigans, or jackets to wear with dresses.

This little jacket is very versatile.

If you have seen others styling it, you would have noticed that you can wear it with or without sleeves. I haven’t styled it with a long sleeve top yet. However, it is something that I am going to try.

What do you think of this jacket? Let’s chat in the comment section below!
