Today I am going to be letting you in on the little secret of my favorite places to shop for professional outfits. I have been in corporate America for 12 years (and counting). My beginning story is a very interesting one, it all started with knowing I was destined to help others.
I remember going on what seemed like a thousand interviews only to be told they decided to go with another candidate. But I kept pushing, pushing until the answer of “no” was not an option and I wasn’t going to accept it. When I finally received my offer letter, (after 2 years of interviewing) it really changed my view of dressing in a professional wardrobe.
Affordable Professional Wardrobe
In the beginning, I would shop at stores like Express, The Limited, New York & Company to get cute, quality outfits. But shopping with these retailers would get very expensive. Don’t get me wrong these are still some of my all-time favorite brands and I still shop there from time to time. Would you believe me if I told you I still have all of my suits from 12 years ago? Quality! This is what you want to look for and invest in. Find pieces that are high quality that will last you a long time. As time went on I began to step outside of the box and look for sales and other discounted apparel stores.
My Top 3 Favorite Places To Shop:
- Ross Dress For Less– This store is always at the top of my list for finding super cute and affordable dresses. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I wear a lot of dresses. Now, dresses have not always been my favorite professional piece. Primarily for my own self-conscious reasons. But, dresses are easy, functional, and perfect for any office or workplace.
- TJ Maxx/Marshalls– When you walk into TJ Maxx or Marshalls be sure to have an idea in mind of what you are looking for. This will help lessen your anxiety this is your first time shopping here. It takes a good eye and a little patience but you can find some amazing pieces and deals!
- Target– lately Target has started to showcase new brands that really cater to their shoppers. I love that they are always giving us different options that cater to our individual styles. I remember when they partnered with Issac Mizrahi in 2008. I purchased every suit from this line and I still wear them. You can find some really great deals, but be sure to check out the clearance rack too.
