Weekend Family Getaway To Indian Harbor Beach

We finally had time to visit a beach this past weekend. I know it seems like since we live in Florida that we should be able to visit the beach more often. But with my husband’s schedule, we couldn’t really find the time to go.

We didn’t even get to go to the beach for when the kids were out for Spring Break. I had promised them that we would take them as soon as we could. When we attempted the first time, the weather was not in our favor.

So we had to postpone the trip.

One thing that I have learned is that sometimes we need to learn how to push through anyway.

I wanted to take the kids to the beach because they have been doing so well and I promised. I don’t like breaking my promises to them. After watching my friends live stream while she was at the beach with her kids. I asked her what beach were they at and she told me that it was Indian Harbor Beach in Brevard County Florida. After a little research, the trip was booked.

We wanted to visit Clearwater Beach (my favorite) but due to the time of year, we decided to wait and plan a visit there later this year. The kids were so excited. We work up early Saturday morning and drove a little over an hour to Melbourne. Our first stop was to check out the hotel to see how far it was from the beach. To our surprise, it was only about 15 minutes away.

We stayed at a Hilton hotel. If you are interested in the hotel details, I will share more details in another post. We had arrived around 12:30 and we couldn’t check in to our room until 2:00. So we headed out to find the closest beach.

Once we arrived we found a spot tucked away behind some condos where we could park. The only thing, that we were not prepared for was that we had to pay a parking meter. The last thing we want is a parking ticket. Good thing for us, it was only $1.25 per hour. Now, I had no issue with paying to park it was the fact I had to dig up some change to feed the meter.

Once we took care of the parking fees, we unloaded and searched for the perfect spot to set up on the beach. The sheer excitement radiating from the kids warmed my heart. They were so happy to FINALLY be at the beach. They grabbed all of their toys and headed towards the water.

When we arrived we noticed that the waves are pretty large so we made sure to tell the kids to say close by. There were not a lot of beachgoers at the location we were at which was a great thing. C was in his own little world and M was dancing and performing for the ocean and all of us to see. It was so funny because she never took off her sunglasses. (She was ready)

I decided to live stream on my Instagram account to show my audience the beach we had decided to visit but after that, I was unplugged and soaking up every minute with my family. It was so good for my soul.

We could not have picked a better day to visit.

The weather was perfect and it was not too hot! You will find a different kind of peace at the beach. One that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Just sitting there watching my kids play and be kids and listening to the waves crash on the shore…it doesn’t get much better than that.
