How To Style Bantu Knots on Long Curly Hair-Tutorial

Easy Bantu Knots on Curly Hair

I received complimentary CURLS Blueberry Bliss products from CURLS for this review. All opinions are my own.

Today’s post is all about How To Style Bantu Knots on Long Curly Hair. First of all, let me start this post by saying that I am so glad that I am on my natural hair journey of loving and accepting my natural curls. Over a year ago, when I started my natural hair journey, I wanted to try this hairstyle. Honestly, I was scared to try it because I thought it wouldn’t look that great on me. Granted, this is coming from the fact that I would never wear my naturally curly hair because I thought it looked better straight.
What I love the most about this style is that Bantu Knots can be worn in so many different ways. Therefore, makes styling my naturally curly hair so much fun.  Also, I received so many questions on whether or not if you could do this style if your hair is wet, and the answer is ABSOLUTELY!

There is a video of my Bantu style on straight hair, that recorded last year. Also, this video is also one of my most viewed videos on my YouTube Channel.  Y’all,  I felt really bad that at the time because I didn’t trust myself enough to style it on my wet hair.  Now, I have more confidence in my styling capabilities, therefore, I had to go at it again and record a new video featuring a different style. Finally, I have found my go-to styling products for this hairstyle.

Hairstyle Bantu Knots {Half up, Half down}

Hair Tools Used:

Wet Brush

Rat Tail Comb

Rubber Bands

Hair Pick

Alligator Hair Clip

Products Used:

CURLS Blueberry Bliss Twist -N- Shout Cream

Styling Time:

  • It took me approximately 10 minutes to brush and detangle wet hair
  • 10 minutes to section and part the front sections
  • Lastly, it took approximately 10 minutes to twist, wrap and secure with rubber bands ( or clear rubber bands)

Steps:

  • Step 1: Using a rat tail comb, section hair into sections. Next, secure the back section with a hair tie, so it doesn’t get in the way while styling.
  • Step 2: Apply water to the first section, and used the alligator clip to secure the remaining hair out of the way.
  • Step 3: Using the rat tail comb, section hair into a small-medium section. Also, apply water and then apply the CURLS Blueberry Bliss Twist-N-Shout Cream.
  • Step 4: After you have applied the CURLS Blueberry Bliss Twist-N-Shout Cream wrap your hair around your finger in a circular motion.
  • Step 5: Wrap hair around into mini “knots” and secure with a rubber band
  • Step 6:  Finally, allow to Air Dry if time permits.

Additional Steps:

In addition, after I completed all of the above steps, I allowed my hair to air dry. Also, you may not have the time to air dry your hair, so if you prefer you can sit under a hooded dryer or use a hand dryer.  Furthermore, if you plan on wearing this style for more than one day I would suggest using the Curls Blueberry Bliss CURL Control Jelly and Finally, I would normally leave my Bantu Knots in for a few days before taking them down.
